Whether you have a gluten allergy or are looking for other ways to cut back on carbs in your diet, Kegenix has some news for you! There are plenty of pasta-alternatives out there and many of them taste just as good and with an added health benefit.

Spaghetti Squash
One of the classic vegetable alternatives for pasta is a simple alternative that has an aptitude for many different pasta-classics! To prepare, start by slicing your squash in half and digging out the seeds. Coat the inside of the squash with olive oil and salt and pepper then roast in the oven for 45 minutes. Scoop out the squash with a fork once it's cooked and add it to any pasta sauce of your choosing to create a classic pasta-inspired dish!
 
Spiralized Zucchini Noodles
Another classic veggie-alternative, easy to make with a spiralizer. Spiralize your zucchini, place in a bowl with some water and microwave for 30-45 seconds. Add your favorite sauce and toppings for a lower-carb dinner!
 
Miracle Noodles (Shirataki noodles)
These noodles are low calorie and low or no carb. Easy to make, they only need 2 minutes in boiling water! Check out their full range of pasta noodle options and incorporate some of your favorite pasta sauces for a very low-carb pasta option!
 
Lentil and other vegetable-based noodles 
There is a variety of these on the market including edamame spaghetti, garbanzo-bean based pasta shells, sweet potato, and others! Check out your local grocery store’s pasta aisles to see if there are other options as well! These options can lean carb heavy, so if you choose to eat them in moderation, also add an appropriate amount of fat to counter it.
 
Bean pasta
There are many bean-based pasta variations you can find at the store as well. Black bean and garbanzo bean pasta are the most common and are another option to incorporate a high protein alternative instead of the traditional pasta. Like the previous option, just be sure to load up on the fats with your dressing choices!
 
Speared Asparagus
If you are looking for another veggie-alternative to pasta, spear asparagus into small strips and cook them over medium heat for ten minutes. Mix with your favorite sauce and toppings for yet another variation on a pasta dish!
Keep in mind that it is effortless to incorporate vegetables into other classic Italian dishes, it just takes a bit of creativity. Try using eggplants as well to make variations on other Italian classics like eggplant manicotti or eggplant parmesan, or zucchini lasagna. There are great alternatives that make delicious meals without the carb overload!
  
Cauliflower Gnocchi 
Trader Joes is known for their cauliflower gnocchi. This is a raving trend and there are many recipes online if you want to try making it home-made instead.

Low-Carb Asian noodles such as tofu noodles
Our final recommendation is trying an Asian-inspired pasta such as tofu noodles. Similar to Shiritaki noodles, they are low carb and a seamless alternative to traditional high-carb pasta.
