Celebrities Who Have Gone Low-Carb and Love It!

Whatever ideology you subscribe too, lowering processed carbohydrates seems to bring all kinds of health benefits, including weight loss, mental focus, appetite suppression, and hormone balance. 

Here are 6 celebrities who are embracing the low-carb lifestyle, and love it!

1. Halle Berry

Halle is the poster-child for the ketogenic diet. She uses the low-carb lifestyle to manager her type 2 diabetes, and has for years. And she chronicles her lifestyle on her beautiful instagram page

"Today let’s talk about food. I think the most important part of being healthy and in great shape largely depends on what and when you eat. Being diabetic most of my life, I have always had to take food very seriously. So for years, I have been following the keto or ketogenic diet. I hate the word “diet” so while you’ll see the word diet, just know I encourage you to think of it as a lifestyle change NOT A DIET! Keto is a very low-carb food plan which actually forces your body to burn fat like crazy. I also believe it’s been largely responsible for slowing down my aging process. The keto lifestyle offers so many benefits such as weight loss, (moms that’s how we get rid of our baby bellies), appetite control, more energy and better mental performance. If you’re like me, you can possibly reverse type 2 diabetes, you’ll experience better physical endurance, better skin and also less acne if that’s an issue. And it even helps control migraines!

... So today I encourage you to say yes to keto, give it a try... what do you have to lose?!"

 

2. Kourtney and Kim Kardashian

Kim was first inspired to try the low-carb lifestyle after seeing unflattering photos of herself on vacation (we can all relate, right?) And that encouraged her to take action!

She follows the Atkins 40 Plan, which limits her to 40 carbs a day. She also eats plenty protein, and lots of healthy fats. 

In total, she has lost 75 pounds following this lifestyle. 

The keto diet was recommended to Kourtney Kardashian by her doctor after high levels of mercury and lead were found in her blood. This lead her to swapping out high-carb, gluten-free foods (such as rice) for low-carb vegetables, like dark leafy greens and cauliflower rice.

3. Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan is a UFC commentator and comedian, and has been a big believer in the low-carb lifestyle for a long time. He personally adhere's to the ketogenic diet. Is it a common topic on this popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience

He has a very balanced approach to this lifestyle, and understands that everyone is different, and may respond differently to cutting out carbs as the main fuel source.

4. LeBron James

LeBron James was inspired by former Miami Heat teammate, Ray Allen, who had adopted a low-carb version of the Paleo Diet in the off-season. When the new season started, Ray had lost 10 pounds, and was in much better shape. 

So LeBron decided to give it a try. He eliminated sugar, dairy, and carbs for 67 days, and replaced it with meat, fish, vegetables, and fruit. LeBron said he "lost a ton of weight."

 

5. Megan Fox

Megan Fox, actress and mom of three, has credited her ability to shed post baby weight to a low-carb, Paleo diet.

"I've had to eliminate bread from my diet, so I'm on that high-protein, very low-carbohydrate, very low-sugar diet."

She also credits it to helping her to have more energy, and being more efficient as a mom. 

 

 

6. Vinny Guadagnino

Vinny Guadagnino, self-proclaimed "Keto Guido", and star of The Jersey Shore lost 50 pounds on the keto diet! Here is what Vinny has to say about the keto diet, and his new Instagram page, that has over 400k followers!

"I started this page so that I could talk about my health and fitness journey without constantly speaking about it on my main page... because let’s face it, not everyone is interested in looking at my grass fed steak all day or hearing about false studies about cholesterol leading to heart disease all day. This was just a side passion that I thought would get a few thousand followers.

After all, I’m not a nutritionist, expert, or personal trainer ... just someone who went through a journey and found something that works for me.
